Constructed in 1930, as chic, Manhattan - style, In - City Homes for Seattle sophisticates, driving their Model T Fords or riding the streetcar to work. Services included daily milk/newspaper/laundry/ delivery, and shoe polishing, all supervised by a resident concierge! Sadly, the property had fallen into severe disrepair by the time the present owners invested in it in 1985.
They continue to lovingly restore The Chelan to its former glory, and take great pride in offering superior homes at very fair prices. Current residents are mainly younger urban professionals, so the clock has now, happily, gone full cycle, but with Model Ts replaced by Hybrids!
The Lobby still has the original 1930 Egyptian Revival decor designed by a famous Seattle artist, when all things Egyptian were popular, due to the recent discovery of the tomb of King Tut in Egypt, after being buried for over 2,000 years.
